One Love Valbona Park

European Day of Parks also celebrated in Valbona Valley National Park!

Valbona Valley National Park welcomes children from the 9-year schools of the city of Bajram Curri, who joined the park with the message "One Love Valbona Park".

Like all around Europe, the European Day of Parks was also celebrated in Albania to commemorate the creation of the First Park in Sweden, and, at the same time, to raise public awareness regarding the importance of parks in biodiversity conservation and mitigation of climate impacts.

Together with AdRZM Kukës, INCA  chose to celebrate as an outdoor education lesson in Valbona Valley National Park with school pupils, for monitoring biodiversity and natural ecosystems in order to raise awareness of the younger generation and strengthen their connection with mother nature.

During the activity, the children became acquainted with the park's values, its biodiversity, animals and plants, that have been considered as pride of the park and the alps.

A special time was devoted to the administration's role in the protection and promotion of the park and the natural forest habitat. The students were divided into two monitoring groups. One group observed the trees and the other birds and wild animals. Along with the park guards, the children observed some of the park's characteristic trees. They had the opportunity to work specifically on tree characteristics such as height, diameter, perimeter and type, using some of the guards environmental tools. The other group, engaged in bird observation with binoculars, and focused also on monitoring their voices. At the end of the event, students distributed on tree branches bird food and seed prepared by INCA.

This activity encouraged youngster’s curiosity and passion for nature conservation and gave them first lessons to become "future guards" of the Valbona Valley National Park

This activity was carried out within the framework of the project "Strengthening Albanian OMSHCs for Promotion of Nature Conservation in Albania" funded by the European Union (Delegation in Albania), within the ACHIEVE program, which was implemented by REC Albania .
