Project - "Empowering Civil Society Organizations to Promote Nature Conservation in Albania"- (EuropeAid/155863/DD/ACT/AL; Grant Contract 2018/395-785)

 

INCA announces the grant winners within Mini Grants Program "Civil society capacity building for advocacy and public participation in decision-making processes on the use and management of natural resources"

 

Call for Proposals for the Project Grant Program "Empowering of Civil Society Organizations to Promote Nature Conservation in Albania" was announced in the period from 11 November to 11 December 2018 with a deadline extension until 21/12/2018. was mainly directed at civil society organizations at local level near the pilot areas that the project took into consideration: the Divjake-Karavasta National Park, the Shebenik Jablanica National Park, the Kune Vaini Natural Reserve and the Porto Palermo area.

 

After the application process, the proposals were evaluated and the process continued with the selection of the ECSO grant beneficiaries:

 

  1. ECSOs: AGRIEN in partnership with ALBNATYRA, Project title: "Advocacy and promotion of NP Shebenik-Jabllanicë for sustainable use of natural resources", Librazhd
  2. ECSOs: “Klubi Ekologjik” Lezhe, Project title: "Promoting the sustainable use of ecosystem natural resources of  the Kune Vain Natural Reserve "
  3. ESCOs: PPNE-Vlore, Project Title "Strengthening the Capacities of Local Environmental Protection Organizations and Advocacy for the Announcement of the Marine Protected Area of Porto Palermo"
  4. ESCOs: Horizon EU in partnership with MEN, Divjake, Project title "Advocacy for Sustainable Development Respecting the Environment"       

 

The purpose of the Grant Program "Civil society capacity building for advocacy and public participation in decision-making processes on the use and management of natural resources" is to enhance capacities, increase knowledge and technical skills of CSOs to expand their engagement in advocacy activities at the national level and especially local level in selected pilot areas and to actively participate in decision-making processes related to the conservation and management of protected areas. Beneficiary CSOs will join a national network together with project partners, while will actively participate in the main project activities.

 

The project "Empowering Civil Society Organizations to Promote Nature Conservation in Albania" is being implemented by the Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania (INCA) in cooperation with the International Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN). The project aims to increase and strengthen the skills and active role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the implementation of legislation, the fight against corruption and the minimization of negative impacts on the management of natural resources and protected areas; encourage co-operation between ECSOs and public authorities, local communities and the media, to promote networking and building partnerships between them. The project takes into consideration 4 pilot areas: the Divjake-Karavasta National Park, the Shebenik Jablanica National Park, the Kune Vaini Natural Reserve and the Porto Palermo area.

 

The project is funded by the European Commission under the "Support to the Capacities of Civil Society Organizations"
